Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini insists the aim is to bounce straight back into the top-flight following this weekend’s relegation.

The Rosanero will be playing Serie B football next term after a variety of coaching and director changes back-fired.

“I was constructing a new cycle with boss Giuseppe Sannino and director Giorgio Perinetti, then I made the biggest mistake I have ever made when I replaced them,” Zamparini told Radio Rai.

“I then made another error in over-estimating Gian Piero Gasperini, a Coach I really liked but one who was not comfortable with the squad.

“It was a difficult year, where everything went wrong, but we now want to start again with a great desire to get back into Serie A.

“I’ll now talk to the players in an effort to cut some of the highest wages. Saying that, I don’t think relegation will be a financial drama for Palermo. It may even help.”

Zamparini eventually recalled Sannino and Perinetti and they look like they may be retained for the 2013-14 campaign.

“I’ll perhaps meet with Sannino and Perinetti today,” he added.

“We’ll probably keep Abel Hernandez and Paulo Dybala, two players who will make the difference in Serie B. We’ll then build a competitive team.”

Hernandez is a 22-year-old Uruguayan international who missed most of the season with knee ligament damage.

Dybala, meanwhile, is a highly-rated 19-year-old Argentine attacker.
