Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has admitted that he may recall Gigi Del Neri to the bench for the 2013-14 campaign.

Davide Ballardini may have kept the club in the top flight after replacing Del Neri in January, but the former Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”9″>Sampdoria and Juventus” data-scaytid=”10″>Juventus tactician is a contender to be re-hired.

“I’m thinking about Del Neri,” Preziosi admitted on Monday. “He’s still contracted to us for another year, while Ballardini isn’t.

“Del Neri is a good Coach, especially when he is allowed to work with a squad from the start of the season.”

The 62-year-old Del Neri replaced Gigi De Canio in October 2012, but endured an horrific run of results at the port club.

The tactician, who is still collecting his €1.5m a season wage, netted just eight points from his 13 games in charge.

Gian Piero Gasperini, Zdenek Zeman and Palermo’s Giuseppe Sannino are also understood to be on the Grifoni’s radar should they part company with Ballardini.
