Cagliari forward Marco Sau has admitted that being called up to the Italian National Team is a 'dream come true'.
The 25-year-old was named in Cesare Prandelli's pre-Confederations Cup squad on Thursday, and the uncapped striker has conceded it was an unexpected call up.
“It is a dream come true for me,” he told reporters. “I'm really happy and really excited.
“It is totally unexpected for me. I have dreamed of this moment since I was a child.
“I am delighted for myself and for my teammates – especially after the tough season we've had.”
The 31-man squad will meet at Coverciano on Monday, before they play San Marino in a friendly on May 31. Cesare Prandelli's team then face Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifier, before the reduced 23-man squad travels to Brazil for the Confederation Cup.
