Milan have extended the contract of Daniele Bonera until June 2015, the club have confirmed on Wednesday.

The defender, whose previous agreement was set to expire next month, was expected to put pen to paper on a new deal after meeting with Vice-President Adriano Galliani today.

However, Milan have made an exception to their rule of handing over 30-year-olds 12 month extensions, by giving the Italian a two-year renewal.

Bonera, formerly of Brescia and Parma, joined the Diavolo in the summer of 2006.

The 31-year-old made just 17 appearances for Massimiliano Allegri’s side this season.
