Miroslav Klose has been hugely successful, but admits winning the Coppa Italia in a Rome derby “is different to everything else.”

The German international was stunned by the atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico when beating arch rivals Roma 1-0 in the Final.

“I think this is different to everything else in my career. When you see these fans and this staff working behind the scenes all year, we have to thank them.

“You play football to get something in your hand and so it was important to lift the trophy. We worked all year and this was the result.

“I think we put in a great performance, though Roma were also strong and fought hard. I’m happy we won at the end.”

Klose almost scored in the first half, his header forcing a remarkable Bogdan Lobont save from point-blank range.

“I jumped behind Balzaretti and it was a great save. We must all continue working towards more success, so we’ll rest over the summer and then try to rev up the engines again.”
