The pint-sized forward could well make the final cut in Brazil this summer after Pablo Daniel Osvaldo was dropped due to disciplinary reasons.

“Cagliari gave me the opportunity to play in Serie A, so I owe it all to them and this call-up is dedicated to my club,” said Sau in today’s Press conference.

“The call from the Nazionale was the icing on the cake of a wonderful campaign. I’d like to play more as a second striker than a centre-forward, but I always try to improve anyway.”

The 25-year-old scored an impressive 12 goals in 30 Serie A games this season after working with Zdenek Zeman at Foggia and in Serie B with Juve Stabia.

“I was pleased to hear Cesare Prandelli’s words of praise for me, but I am keeping my feet firmly on the ground,” continued Sau.

“Can I be compared to Gianfranco Zola? He was fantastic and I don’t feel it’s right to make certain comparisons.

“As for the transfer market, I have a contract with Cagliari until 2015, so we’ll see what happens.”
