There are surprise reports that Luciano Spalletti met with Milan President Silvio Berlusconi last night, just hours before the crunch talks with Max Allegri.

This is not the first time that Zenit Coach Spalletti has been linked with the Rossoneri bench, although that rumour had not emerged for some time.

Radio Radio claim Spalletti was spotted having dinner with Berlusconi last night in a restaurant in Rome.

It would be a particularly galling detail, as the President has repeatedly postponed dinner with Allegri over the past two weeks, insisting he was too busy.

The crucial meeting between Berlusconi, Allegri and Vice-President Adriano Galliani is due to take place this evening at the patron’s villa in Arcore, near Milan.

If the Spalletti story is true, then it’s possible Allegri will be given the all-clear to join Roma – Spalletti’s former club.

The ex-Roma and Udinese boss would also calm fears among the Rossoneri faithful that Berlusconi wants to hire Clarence Seedorf, who has no management experience at all.
