It’s Atalanta’s intention to continue fielding Giacomo Bonaventura and Luca Cigarini in their midfield next season.
Bonaventura is of transfer interest to a number of bigger clubs, while the Bergamo boys have the option to sign on-loan Cigarini outright from Napoli.
“Bonaventura’s call-up to the national side has increased his value,” director general Pierpaolo Marino said outside of the Lega HQ on Monday.
“We and you know that he is liked by the big teams, but we’ve made it clear that we want to keep him for another year.
“We’ll have to see what the player thinks about that, but he is a good lad and there will not be any kind of problem.
“Cigarini? We have the right to keep him and we’ll do that within the time period that we have at our disposal.”
Bonaventura, 23, made 35 League appearances in 2012-13, scoring seven goals in the process. Cigarini, meanwhile, netted two in 27 games.
