Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has admitted that he could appoint Gennaro Gattuso as his next Coach.

The Sion midfielder is set to quit the Swiss side in order to mastermind the Rosanero’s attempts to instantly return to the top flight following their relegation.

“I really like Gattuso a lot,” Zamparini told Radio 2 when asked about the former Milan man who has been tipped to replace Giuseppe Sannino.

“He could be our new tactician just as soon as I have resolved the situation here with Sannino. I think Sannino has probably already resigned so we just have to reach an agreement.”

The 56-year-old Sannino is being linked with possible jobs at Chievo and Genoa.

Zamparini was also questioned about the future of Josip Ilicic, the Slovenian international midfielder who has been paired with Milan.

“I could sell him to Milan, but Adriano Galliani doesn’t want to spend any money,” the Stadio Barbera supremo added.

“He’ll cost €15m and if nobody gives me that here then I’ll send him to Bayer Leverkusen.”
