Jose Mourinho has signalled his emotional connection to Inter remains intact, in speaking his first words as Chelsea’s returning manager today.

The 50-year-old has had his return to Stamford Bridge on a four-year contract confirmed on Monday, just two days after ending a mixed three-year spell at Real Madrid.

In welcoming the news, the Portuguese commented on his connection to the Blues and also the Nerazzurri, who he won a League, Cup and Champions League treble with in 2009-10.

“I promise exactly the same things I promised in 2004, with this difference to help – which is I'm one of you,” Mourinho told Chelsea TV today.

“In football, in my career I've had two great passions, Inter and Chelsea, and Chelsea is more than important for me.

“It was very, very hard to play against Chelsea and I did it only twice, which was not so bad.”
