Sampdoria have cooled speculation that Milan have wrapped up a deal for international midfielder Andrea Poli.
Reports suggest that the Diavolo are in pole position for the 23-year-old who was last night cut from the Italy squad for this month’s Confederations Cup.
“If Milan want Poli then they must firstly make contact with us,” Doria sporting director Carlo Osti told Il Vero Milanista. “They have to speak with us.”
The midfielder, who spent 2011-12 on loan at Inter, is set to leave Marassi seeing as his contract expires in 2014.
Juventus have also been paired with the player given that they tried and failed to land him during the month of January.
It is thought that Doria want at least €6m for his signature.
