Lorenzo Insigne refused to take the credit for Italy’s European Under-21 Championship victory over England.
The Napoli starlet secured the 1-0 result by curling a wonderful free kick into the near top corner after 79 minutes.
“The victory was certainly not down to me, but I am happy to have scored a goal,” he told Rai Sport.
“I want to thank my teammates for putting me in a position to do well.”
The Azzurrini are now top of Group A with three points, followed by Israel and Norway on one.
“I thought we were denied two penalties, but if those who have seen the replays say it was only one then you’re probably right.
“We all accept the Coach’s decisions and I would’ve been happy even if I had been substituted.”
