Real Madrid would be making no mistake in hiring Carlo Ancelotti as their next Coach, says Arrigo Sacchi.

The latter knows the club and the man well seeing as he is a former Madrid sporting director, while he bossed Ancelotti the player at Milan.

“His best quality is that he is a chameleon,” Sacchi, who was assisted by Ancelotti while in charge of the Italian national side, told AS.

“He plays differently depending on the players he has.

“I always say that a Coach’s success depends much on the squad they have to work with, but he has the ability to adapt.

“Carlo is a great person, an extraordinary man and he has never, ever had problems with anyone.”

Ancelotti, currently at Paris Saint-Germain, is wanted in the Spanish capital after Jose Mourinho had his problems with some members of his squad this term.

The Portuguese tactician has since been confirmed as boss of former outfit Chelsea.

Sacchi was also very fond of Ancelotti when he ran the Rossoneri midfield for him.

“He was a player of great generosity, great tactical ability in midfield, with personality, character and professionalism,” Sacchi added. “Fantastic.

“I remember President Silvio Berlusconi saying: ‘I cannot sign Ancelotti, the doctor says he is 20 per cent less mobile in his knee after his last operation’.

“He had a meniscus problem, it was operated on many times. But I said: ‘If I sign Ancelotti we will win the League. And I do not care about his knee, I worry if he is 20 per cent less mobile in the mind’.

“Ancelotti was a master of the midfield. Once Diego Maradona said: ‘Arrigo, under you, Ancelotti runs fast’. I replied: ‘He doesn’t run fast, he thinks fast’. He always played on the first touch.”
