Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has confirmed that he will appoint the untested Fabio Liverani as his new Coach.

The port outfit this morning announced that they would reveal the identity of their tactician for 2013-14 next week, but Preziosi has already now named Liverani as that man.

The former midfielder, a tactician in the club’s youth sector, has never bossed in the professional game before.

“Liverani hasn’t signed the contract yet, but he will do soon,” Preziosi told Tele Nord on Friday afternoon.

“I chose him and I am sure of his qualities – character, technical and tactical.”

The 37-year-old, who was capped three times by Italy, enjoyed a Serie A career with Perugia, Lazio, Fiorentina and Palermo. He will replace Davide Ballardini.
