Lorenzo Insigne “had a real scare,” but his injury should not rule him out of Italy’s European Under-21 Championship semi-final.
The Azzurrini and Napoli starlet was stretchered off in tears during last night’s 4-0 victory over Israel in Tel Aviv.
There were fears his tournament was over, but X-Rays in a local hospital confirmed no fractures or sprains, as he only suffered very heavy bruising to the base of the left shin.
“He had a real scare, but thankfully that’s all it was,” agent Fabio Andreotti told TuttoNapoli.net.
“Lorenzo is fine and I want to point that out because there were false rumours spreading last night about the extent of his injury.
“There are no concerns about his fitness levels. He suffered a nasty bruise to the ankle, but he’s fine and can already be back in action for the semi-final.”
Insigne was spotted this morning walking with the aid of crutches, as he has been warned not to put too much weight on the ankle while it heals.
Italy have already qualified for the semi-final and take on Norway in the last group game on Tuesday, kicking off at 17.00 UK time.
Their semi-final opponents will be one from Spain, Holland, Germany and Russia.
