Andreazzoli: 'My Roma regrets'

Aurelio Andreazzoli admits to “regrets” over his tenure as Roma Coach, but will stay at the club.

The long-term member of staff was promoted to the role of Interim Manager after Zdenek Zeman was sacked in February, leading them to sixth place in Serie A and the Coppa Italia Final.

“I was called to perform a job: to lift up a team that was in real difficulty,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“We managed to do that and during my time in charge we had an impressive average points tally. We did what we had to do, but there are also regrets that we didn’t take the most important opportunities of the season.

“We wanted to win the Coppa Italia Final and therefore qualify for Europe. We played that game below our capabilities, as did Lazio, and in such a tense encounter one incident tends to be decisive.

“We were left with regrets that day and they will remain for a while yet.”

The Giallorossi have still not appointed a new Coach, although current Lille boss Rudi Garcia is the hot favourite.

“My future will be with Roma, as I have another three years on my contract and we’ll discuss it as soon as the new Coach is appointed,” added Andreazzoli.

“Are there other proposals for me? Let’s wait, then we’ll evaluate the situation afterwards.”
