Mauro Icardi, who is on the verge of joining Inter, thinks he made the right decision in leaving Barcelona as a teenager.
The Argentine quit Barca for Sampdoria in January 2011, initially on loan before being signed outright six months later.
“I have no regrets about leaving Barcelona,” the 20-year-old stated. “If a youngster wants to grow then certain decisions have to be made.
“At the time I spoke about it with my father and we decided to move to Italy. Fortunately things turned out well.”
Icardi caught the eye in Serie A over the last campaign when he netted 10 goals in 31 games for Doria. That was enough to attract Inter.
“My form was positive this season,” he added. “I have to thank the Coaches I had for believing in me.
“Now I’m waiting for my move to Inter to be made official. I can’t wait to start this new adventure with such an important jersey.”
The South American striker has already passed his Inter medical.
