Cesare Prandelli admits Italy’s draw with Haiti was “embarrassing” and hopes they can recover sharpness for the Confederations Cup.

The Azzurri were leading 2-0 in tonight’s friendly in Rio de Janeiro, which was played in the afternoon local time, but were caught by a last-gasp equaliser.

“It is certainly a bad result and an embarrassing one, as a draw with Haiti is an embarrassment,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“We arrived yesterday and made many changes. We should’ve been different in terms of spirit today.

“We have to take many aspects into consideration, most importantly we need to find our physical sharpness.

“We’ve worked towards this and you could see today we lost every single sprint, so we hope in five days the team can begin to deliver.”

Prandelli experimented with the 4-3-3 system, but once again it failed to impress.

“We tried to test some new things, which made it hard to find the balance, but this was a friendly and a match for charity.

“Antonio Candreva has proved tonight he can play on the right or the left.”

Haiti also played against Spain at the weekend and were beaten 2-1.
