Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis announced via Twitter he is turning down an option on Parma’s Ishak Belfodil.
“I thank (Parma President Tommaso) Ghirardi for offering me with friendship a priority on Belfodil, a player of real depth, but after a series of considerations I thought it best to move towards other names.”
French-Algerian 21-year-old Belfodil had been heavily linked with Napoli, Juventus, Roma, Inter and Milan over the last few days.
The creative midfielder has been at the Tardini for a year and is valued at around €11m.
Napoli have now very publicly pulled out of the race for the trequartista.
