According to SportMediaset, President Berlusconi personally called Ambrosini on Friday evening to offer another year on the contract.

However, the midfielder turned it down, having already said his goodbyes and realised he is no longer wanted.

It seems a very strange development for Berlusconi to offer a renewal on Friday when general manager Adriano Galliani publicly declared Ambrosini’s deal would not be extended on Tuesday.

Ambro’s agent was critical of the way Milan handled the affair, as they announced the decision to media before telling him.

If this is true, then it is another example of the growing discord within the club, as President Berlusconi already clashed with Galliani over whether to keep Coach Massimiliano Allegri.
