Devis Mangia praised his Italy Under-21 side after their 4-2 Final defeat to Spain, noting “their only flaw was inexperience.”

The Coach only took over in July 2012 when Ciro Ferrara left for the Sampdoria” data-scaytid=”5″>Sampdoria job, so the qualification had already essentially been achieved.

“I had to thank the lads and the staff. They achieved something important and I hope everyone can recognise their merits,” he told Rai Sport in Jerusalem.

“The only flaw today was inexperience and that was not their fault. It can only arrive with playing time at the top level and experience.

“I must compliment the team, as not many would’ve tried to stay in the game right to the end with that result.

“This is a great side and it will be difficult to repeat a tournament like this, as they have wonderful qualities.

“The technical and tactical qualities have always been there. We had a great chance to go 2-1 up and who knows what would’ve happened if that had gone in.”

Mangia was asked whether he would have another go at winning the European Championship in two years, as his contract expires at the end of the month.

“I don’t know, this isn’t the right time to think about that. We’ll see in a few days.”
