David Luiz will undergo surgery for a broken nose, but not until after the Confederations Cup, so he could face Italy.
The Chelsea defender fractured his nose during a collision with teammate Thiago Silva in the 2-0 win over Mexico yesterday evening.
“I’ll have to wait until the end of the competition and undergo surgery to fix it,” Luiz told the official Chelsea website.
“Yes, my nose is broken, but that's part of the game.”
Brazil and Italy have both already qualified for the semi-finals, but go head-to-head on Saturday to decide who goes through top of Group A.
That game kicks off at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT) at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
The Seleçao beat Japan 3-0 and Mexico 2-0, while Italy saw off Mexico 2-1 and Japan 4-3.
