“Had we stayed in the top flight then I certainly would have called Cassano,” Rosanero chief Maurizio Zamparini told Mediaset Premium.

“I would have tried to sign him because he is world class.”

The almost 31-year-old Cassano only joined the Nerazzurri last summer from city rivals Milan. He scored seven goals in 28 League games for the Beneamata.
