French club Ajaccio have revealed that they almost came to an agreement with Alessandro Del Piero.
The veteran striker left Juventus in 2012 to join Australian side Sydney FC. But the Ligue 1 club have claimed that they nearly signed the 38-year-old.
“For some weeks now Ajaccio has been involved in talks with celebrated Italian striker, Alessandro Del Piero,” read the message on the website.
“He is 38 years old and currently plays for FC Sydney, however the striker will not be joining Ajaccio.
“Some particular conditions have convinced Alessandro Del Piero to continue his career in Australia.”
Ajaccio are currently managed by Italian Fabrizio Ravanelli and have been linked with Luca Toni's signature.
