Erick Thohir’s plans to take over Inter reportedly involve an American partner and a heavier focus on youth.

The Indonesian businessman has been in talks with Massimo Moratti to buy a share in the Nerazzurri this summer.

Whilst reports over the weekend suggested that a 40 per cent stake would be transferred to Thohir, stories today in both the Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that he is still hoping for a majority share, if not a complete acquisition of the club.

It is also believed that his activity with the Serie A side will come with the support and involvement of an American business partner, lawyer Jason Levien, who has worked with him at DC United and the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Gazzetta dello Sport also believe that Thohir’s idea for La Beneamata involves a further increased focus on youth development at San Siro.

Specifically, the businessman intends to remove larger salaries from the wage-bill at Inter and turn in the market to younger players, at the same time as further enhancing the club’s own youth academy.

Inter have already been making a concerted effort in the last two seasons to reduce their wage-bill.
