‘Viviano? No Roma contact’

Giorgio Perinetti has played down rumours linking Emiliano Viviano with a move to Roma, claiming Palermo are still awaiting ‘direct contact’.

The Giallorossi have been increasingly linked with a move for the former Inter man in this transfer window, after Fiorentina declined exercising their right to make permanent their loan of the 27-year-old at the end of 2012-13.

However, the Rosanero’s sporting director has made clear that if Roma are interested, they have not yet made it known.

“For Viviano we await a direct offer from Roma,” Perinetti told Tele Radio today.

“Perhaps until now there have been contacts with intermediaries for the goalkeeper, but we await a direct move from the club.

Both myself and [President Maurizio] Zamparini have a good relationship with [sporting director Walter] Sabatini, we are looking for a solution.

“A loan? It is too early to make predictions, we await direct contact. If Roma thinks of him it is because they have realised that he is a reliable goalkeeper.

“Palermo, however, are surprised that Fiorentina have not signed him outright.”
