Udinese will likely have to dip into the transfer market for a goalkeeper, as Zeljko Brkic has been ruled out for up to four months.
The 26-year-old Serbian, who successfully replaced Samir Handanovic between the sticks in Udine last season, injured his shoulder whilst exercising in the gym.
Brkic, who suffered a lesion tear of the tendon in his left shoulder, is reported today by Udinese as having successfully undergone surgery in Milan today.
Immobilised for about 20 days in immediate recovery, the goalkeeper is given a provisional total recovery period of four months, although this will only be better clarified after the first phase of rehabilitation.
