Santos confirmed a deal with Napoli for goalkeeper Rafael. “He just has to sign on the dotted line.”
The 23-year-old shot-stopper is expected to complete the €5m transfer on Monday after the Partenopei beat competition from Roma.
“We know that the player will leave,” Santos Coach Claudinei Oliveira stated.
“He was a great goalkeeper in the history of Santos. It is all done, he just has to sign on the dotted line. Therefore it is best not to risk him in the next game.”
Meanwhile, reports continue that Napoli have also approached veteran Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar, currently at QPR.
It is believed Julio Cesar is seen as the ideal experienced figure to help Rafael acclimatise to Serie A football.
In turn, Napoli man Morgan De Sanctis has been linked with a move to Roma.
