Milan would like Adem Ljajic from Fiorentina now, but are prepared to wait until he becomes a free agent next summer.

The 21-year-old Serbian international’s current deal expires in June 2014 and renegotiations with the Viola have not been going well.

Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani confirmed Ljajic “could be a transfer target,” but would not be drawn on any proposals.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Milan are playing the long game – much the same way they did to get Riccardo Montolivo as a free agent from Fiorentina.

They have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Ljajic, so if a €10m offer is turned down, they are prepared to wait a year until he is free to make the move.
