Cagliari insist Manchester United and Napoli have no chance of signing Davide Astori for £10m. “He is not on the market.”
The Italy international defender has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Milan, Manchester United and Napoli.
“The player is not on the market,” Cagliari director of sport Nicola Salerno told Radio Goal.
“There was a bit of a chat with Milan, but that was all. The players who begin pre-season training are unlikely to leave the club afterwards.”
The €13m Astori link emerged in the Italian media earlier this week and has now been picked up on by the Daily Express.
Astori isn’t the only Sardinian to hit the headlines, as Radja Nainggolan is at the centre of a bidding war between Napoli and Inter.
“He too will probably remain with us. We’ll see how the market develops, but for the moment he is our player.”
