Robinho has hit back at claims that his demands were 'too excessive' to join Santos this summer.

The Milan attacker has been heavily linked with a return to his boyhood club, but on Friday the Peixe released a statement saying the 29-year-old asked for too much money.

The Brazil international though, has insisted that was not the case.

“It is true that, as reported by Santos, that my asking price was high and Milan were not willing to reduce it,” a statement on his official website read.

“For my part, I would have given up 35 per cent of my salary to return to Santos.

“Unfortunately, with the currently leadership, it is impossible for any new negotiations to open up.”
