Genoa say they know nothing of Napoli’s reported interest in Alberto Gilardino, while the Azzurri have ruled out a bid for Juventus’ Fabio Quagliarella.
“Gilardino to Napoli? I’m not aware of that,” Genoa President Enrico Preziosi told TMW on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’ve had no contact with Napoli and therefore I can say that there has been no official offer made for Gilardino.
“We’re keeping Gilardino in attack, otherwise who would play? I would have signed Edinson Cavani, but I was too late…” he smiled.
Napoli are looking for a new forward after Cavani joined Paris Saint-Germain yesterday in a €64.5m deal.
As well as Gilardino, the Stadio San Paolo outfit have also been paired with a move for former striker Quagliarella.
However, when asked whether Napoli were planning a bid for Quagliarella, Azzurri chief Aurelio De Laurentiis – speaking on Twitter again this afternoon – stated: “No!”
