New Roma signing Kevin Strootman says he was advised to move to Italy by former Milan midfielder Mark Van Bommel.
“Mark was the man with experience of Italy,” the 23-year-old told De Telegraaf.
“He told me how great the passion of the fans was, how special the atmosphere in the stadiums was and how there was a totally different football culture.”
Roma have reportedly had to hand over €17m to PSV Eindhoven to secure the signature of the Holland international.
“I will train every day with top players and get to play against the likes of Inter, Milan, Juventus and Napoli,” he continued.
“What counts for me is the number of big games I am going to play here.”
The midfielder has signed a five-year deal with the capital outfit.
Van Bommel re-joined PSV last summer after spending 18 months with the Diavolo.
