Fiorentina have renewed their attempts to sign Julio Cesar from QPR and could beat Arsenal to his signature.
The goalkeeper is eager to leave QPR after their relegation from the Premier League.
He had been in advanced negotiations with Napoli, but that move faltered when the Partenopei refused to match the wages he currently earns in London.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, over the last couple of days Fiorentina have intensified their attempts to sign the former Inter shot-stopper.
They face competition from Arsenal, who have already been in talks with Julio Cesar, but are building an impressive squad.
Among their summer signings are Mario Gomez, Joaquin, Marcos Alonso, Josip Ilicic, Massimo Ambrosini and Oleksander Iakovenko.
