The Lega Serie A has pointed out Roma’s crowd ban due to racist chanting will not be in the derby against Lazio.

It was at first reported that the Giallorossi would be forced to play with the Curva Sud section closed in the Week 4 match of the new season, which is with Lazio.

This is down to the ban imposed by the Disciplinary Commission in May as punishment for repeated racist insults towards Milan’s Mario Balotelli.

However, the Lega Serie A released a statement to clarify the terms of the ban, so the Curva Sud will be closed for the opening home game against Hellas Verona in Week 2.

The wording of the Article 22, Comma 1 code of the sporting justice system had caused some confusion in Italian media sources.
