Jherson Vergara says he bases his game on Mario Yepes – a player he has replaced at Milan this summer.
While Yepes was shown the door by the San Siro outfit at the end of his contract, the 19-year-old was netted from Deportes Quindío.
“Yepes, the captain of my national team, is my role model,” the defender noted to Milan Channel in an interview.
Yepes, now with Atalanta, is not the only Colombian who Vergara looks up to. “Teammate Cristian Zapata is helping me a lot here.
“He is like a big brother to me in the way he gives me so much advice. I am very relaxed, but also very happy.”
Vergara will be given a chance to impress in pre-season given the injuries to Daniele Bonera, Philippe Mexes and Mattia De Sciglio.
“I am working hard,” added the South American. “Now I have the chance to get used to the Italian style of football and that of Milan in particular.
“My dream is to win everything with Milan.”
