Catania chief Antonino Pulvirenti has confirmed Alejandro Gomez is hours away from completing a move to Metalist Kharkiv.
“The transfer is not yet official, but he will be going to Metalist,” the President stated. “It will be done either today or tomorrow.”
The forward was expected to leave this summer after attracting the interest of Inter and Spanish club Atletico Madrid. Genoa were also said to be keen.
However, the 25-year-old will be playing his club football in the Ukraine next season.
The Argentine was signed by the Stadio Massimino outfit in 2010 from San Lorenzo. He scored 16 goals in 106 League games for the Sicilian outfit.
