Portanova hopes Genoa 'grow'

Daniele Portanova is happy with Genoa’s preseason preparations so far, and admits that he can’t wait for the season to start.

The Ligurian club are currently in England for the final part of the off-season, but the defender has insisted that his side cannot compete, financially, with other Serie A teams.

“We are not hunting for excuses,” he told the club’s official website. “The budget is difficult, but we still believe.

“It is going to be interesting to compare ourselves with the best teams in terms of tactics and technique.

“We have come here to improve the harmony of the group and the mechanisms of the team.

“We want to improve our conditioning and continue to grow as a team.”
