Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri is happy with his side’s pre-season progress despite the 2-0 loss to Chelsea in America.
The London club collected a 2-0 win in New York, but Allegri was remaining optimistic after the 90 minutes.
“We perhaps gave too much away to Chelsea in the first half, but I’m happy with the performance of the lads,” he noted.
“The side played well against an excellent team. It was a good test and a step forward in respect to the previous games we have played.
“Our physical condition is improving.
“We have to improve on certain areas of our game, but that is only normal. We gave away too many counter-attacks and that is something which needs to be avoided.
“However, games like this, of a certain level, are important. They are the best preparation possible for the preliminaries of the Champions League.”
January signing Mario Balotelli was given 45 minutes as a precautionary measure by the former Cagliari tactician.
“Mario took a knock in training so I preferred to only give him a half of football. Nevertheless, he did well out there.”
Milan will play Los Angeles Galaxy in Miami on August 7.
