Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has been recalled for Italy’s friendly against Argentina, plus Under-21 stars Lorenzo Insigne and Marco Verratti.
The Azzurri take on Argentina at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on August 14, a friendly organised in honour of Pope Francis.
Osvaldo was dropped for the Confederations Cup after breaking the code of ethics, as he insulted then-Roma Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli via Twitter.
The striker returns to face his other ‘home’ team, as Osvaldo was born and raised in Argentina.
Cesare Prandelli also brings in Napoli forward Insigne, PSG midfielder Marco Verratti and Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi after they starred in the Under-21 European Championship.
Inter’s Andrea Ranocchia, Lorenzo De Silvestri of Sampdoria and Genoa’s Luca Antonelli are also called up.
The team will get together in Rome on August 12, then both Italy and Argentina will meet with the Pope in the Vatican on August 13.
