Inter have no option but to return to winning ways in the 2013-14 campaign, says midfielder Esteban Cambiasso.

The Nerazzurri had a desperate last season when they missed out on qualification for Europe because of their lowly ninth place finish in Serie A.

“When you play for Inter, you always have to win,” the Argentine told Sky Sport Italia. “That doesn't change from one year to the next.

“If you win one year, you have to repeat your success the year after. If you didn't, then you have to make up for not winning.”

In an effort to be competitive again, boss Andrea Stramaccioni was dismissed in favour of bringing in Walter Mazzarri from Napoli.

“We've already seen his influence on the team,” added the ex-Real Madrid man. “Perhaps not everyone can see it immediately, but hopefully it will be clear to everyone soon.”

Inter have had a problematic pre-season so far and they struggled to impress during their recent tour of the United States.

“Regardless of the results it helped us grow as a team, although that's obviously the first thing people talk about in this game.

“We know there's more to it than that. We have to look at the way the team plays.”
