Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi believes the time has come for Mario Balotelli to prove himself in tonight’s Champions League play-off with PSV.

The first leg kicks off in Eindhoven at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

“Balotelli is a good player who so far has proved his extraordinary qualities only in fits and starts,” Sacchi told Sport Mediaset.

“He doesn’t always manage to connect himself with the squad. If he does manage that, then he can make the most of the extraordinary talent God has given him.”

The Rossoneri finished third in Serie A last season and Coach Massimiliano Allegri was given another year on the bench after weeks of speculation.

“Milan are a side with some interesting young players, but they are still missing something to become a great team,” continued Sacchi.

“Only Allegri can achieve this, trying to give not just good football but also play that is efficient, innovative, can quickly grow the youngsters and hide the issues of some players who are not top level.

“Milan, making the most of the experience and capabilities of their directors, can be competitive despite not spending much money on the market.”
