Jonathan is happy with how he and his Inter side are progressing under new Nerazzurri boss Walter Mazzarri.
The San Siro giants are looking to return to competitive levels after they finished the last Serie A campaign in ninth place.
“The team is in good physical shape and this is very important,” the Brazilian told Inter Channel after the Week 1 win over Genoa. “This is down to the Coach and his staff.
“We played a good game against Genoa and we’re all happy with the three points which are all that count.”
Jonathan was used as the right wing-back in Mazzarri’s 3-5-1-1 system at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza yesterday.
“I feel I’m at 70-80 per cent,” the South American continued. “Personally I have to continue to make progress.
“Tactically I can improve, although I’ve already learned a lot. But I want to keep working to do even better.
“The Coach’s confidence in me has been crucial and it’s something very important for a player. His words encourage me to do well and help me a lot.”
