Livorno Coach Davide Nicola has admitted that his side were outplayed on Sunday as they lost to Roma.

In their first game back in Serie A after promotion yesterday, the Amaranto went down 2-0 to the capital club.

And the tactician has insisted that his men were second best to the Giallorossi.

“Rome were superior to us,” he told Teleradiostereo. “We deserved to lose even though we played a very tidy game.

“In our squad there were 18 first-timers, and we paid for that lack of experience.

“Roma played a great game and I though [Coach Rudi] Garcia did a great job.

“De Rossi, Totti and Florenzi were also deadly.”
