Massimiliano Allegri explains why Milan signed Alessandro Matri from Juventus. “It’s the perfect partnership with Mario Balotelli.”
The 29-year-old cost in the region of €12m to take him from Turin and he could make his debut tomorrow against his former club Cagliari.
“I worked with Matri at Cagliari. He is a player we needed to cover the role left vacant by Giampaolo Pazzini’s injury,” the Coach told Milan Channel.
“The next two months are going to be very important, as we have eight Serie A games and a Champions League group phase to get through. The club understood we need options at this time.
“We’re not forgetting about Pazzini, who has been a very important player, scoring 15 goals last season. He is a reliable striker who unfortunately had these knee problems and required an operation in May.
“Matri played a crucial role for Juventus and he is the player we were looking for. Balotelli, who is extraordinary, needs someone of Matri’s characteristics by his side. They make the perfect partnership.”
