Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella turned down the option to sign Enzo Maresca from Sampdoria on Monday.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Sampdoria man was offered to the Viola yesterday afternoon.
Tuscan officials spoke to Montella about the transfer opportunity, but the tactician felt he had no need for the 33-year-old.
Maresca hasn’t featured in the first team plans at Doria since Delio Rossi replaced Ciro Ferrara on the bench in December 2012.
The Italian has already played for Fiorentina in his career given that he spent the 2004-05 campaign at the Artemio Franchi.
