Atalanta have dismissed suggestions that they received a late offer from Fiorentina for Andrea Consigli.
The Viola were thought to be looking for a new goalkeeper given the concerns over Norberto Neto’s ability.
There were even suggestions they had contacted the Bergamo outfit in the last few days of the summer transfer window to make an enquiry for the highly-rated 26-year-old.
“Fiorentina never expressed an interest in Consigli,” director general Pierpaolo Marino told L’Eco di Bergamo.
“And seeing how good Andrea is, all I can say is thank goodness…”
Consigli is a product of the Atalanta youth system who has spent spells out on loan at Sambenedettese and Rimini.
A former Italian Under-21 international, he has been called up by the full squad but he remains uncapped.
