Tributes are flooding in for Genoa Cricket and Football Club, who mark their 120th anniversary today as the oldest side in Italy.

The Grifone were the first football club ever to be formed in the Peninsula when English ex-pats set up Genoa CFC on September 7 1893.

There will be a huge free celebration in the Genoa Palasport today with fireworks, a concert and squad presentations for over 10,000 people.

Among the well wishers for this celebration, Sheffield FC sent their message of celebration as the oldest football club in the world, formed 155 years ago.

Genoa have won the Serie A title nine times, although the most recent was in 1923-24.
