Miroslav Klose has said he’ll return to Germany next year, but Lazio are hoping to give him a contract extension.

The 35-year-old hitman matched Gerd Muller’s record of 68 goals for Germany this week and is now targeting the 2014 World Cup.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are eager to give Klose a new contract that will last beyond the current June 2014 expiry.

He would need convincing, as the veteran has said before he wants a return to Germany next year.
