Lyon star Maxime Gonalons was consistently linked with Napoli, but his agent reveals he said no because he couldn’t “handle the competition.”
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder is captain of Olympique Lyonnais, although still felt Serie A and the Stadio San Paolo were too much for him.
“There are different parameters you must take into account,” agent Frederic Guerra told Papinade.com.
“Max felt fragile and not strong enough to handle the competition he would’ve faced with a transfer to Napoli.
“He has to continue his growth process in Ligue 1.”
